Recently, the People's Government of Shandong Province officially approved the establishment of the Shandong Changdao "Blue Granary" Marine Economic Development Zone. At present, there are 139 economic development zones above the provincial level in the province. Following the approval of its establishment, the Shandong Changdao "Blue Granary" Marine Economic Development Zone will become the 140th economic development zone above the provincial level in the province.

The economic development zone will be built according to the "One Plus N" industrial layout. Specifically, "One" refers to the marine aquaculture zone, including 255,000 mu of core area in the eastern sea areas of Nanhuangcheng Island and Beihuangcheng Island and 450,000 mu of expansion area around the sea areas of the five southern islands of Miaodao Archipelago in Changdao. A comprehensive service guarantee area will be set up in Nanhuangcheng Island to actively explore new paths for reasonable development and utilization of uninhabited islands; "N" refers to multiple industrial supporting bases. Relying on high-quality enterprises in relevant industries, efforts will be made to establish a seedling breeding base, a processing and logistics base, and an aquaculture equipment manufacturing base and drive the formation of industrial clusters such as marine engineering equipment manufacturing and aquatic product processing, aquatic seed, and scientific innovation. Through close cooperation and coordinated development on the islands and their surrounding areas, the economic development zone aims to develop a whole industrial ecology covering seedling cultivation, aquaculture production, processing and circulation, equipment manufacturing, maritime tourism, and other fields.
